"Can’t believe we get to live in the same time as Stormzy" — BRIT Awards

Rapper Stormzy has got the BRIT Music Award for Best British Male Solo Artist for the second time. The winners were announced on Tuesday evening at The O2 Arena, London.


After scooping the award, Stormzy took to the stage to deliver a high-energy set that conststs of big hits, mash-ups and an abundance of guests. Backed by a gospel choir, Stormzy started things off slowly with the calming interlude “Don’t Forget to Breathe”, before then going into “Do Better” and “Wiley Flow”, all of which appear on his recently released album “Heavy Is the Head”.

Stormzy, in recent years has become one of the most popular young musicians in the UK, received its first award in the same category in 2018.
The best Solo Artist at the BRIT Awards 2020 ceremony was pop singer Mabel, who released her first album “High Expectations” in August 2019.

The Best International Performer was declared 18-year-old American Billy Eilish, whose composition “No time to die” will become the main musical theme of the film of the same name about agent 007 James Bond, which will be released in April.


The Song of the Year became “Someone you loved” by Lewis Capaldi, who was also recognized as the Best New Artist. The Album of the Year was “Psychodrama”, the first studio album of London rapper David Omoregie, performing under the stage name Dave. The rock band Foals, founded in 2005, was recognized as The Best Group.

The BRIT Awards was established by the British Recording Industry Association in 1977. This award is considered the British counterpart of the American Grammy. In the past, The Beatles and Oasis, Robbie Williams, Ed Sheeran and many others became laureates of the BRIT Awards.
